Cheonggyecheon 청계천

Cheonggyecheon is a stream that flow from the Han river through Seoul. In the early days of modernization it was hidden under concrete. A while ago the area was re-done to be more appealing and the stream was uncovered. Now it's a beautiful place to hang out and take pretty pictures.

A memorial to the Sewol Ferry incident.

Wishing well

Han River

Sanghyuk and I went to the Han River last week and rented a tandem bike. We rode around and sat by the river. It was a weekday so there weren't too many people (it's usually really crowded on the weekends.) It was really hot, but there was a bit of a breeze, especially when we were riding so it wasn't too bad.

Playing on the playground!

Tardis in Seoul

The actors for the Doctor and his companion Clara are coming Seoul and there will be an early filming of the first episode of the next season of Doctor Who! In anticipation, the Tardis has been appearing around Seoul. My roommate and I went a few days ago to take our pictures with it!

Lots of people in line!

Singapore Day 4 (Last Day)

Shopping for some TWG tea! (Famous Singapore Brand)

Souvenir shopping in Chinatown

Tea Time at Fulton Hotel! The tea was delicious and the finger sandwiches were unlimited! We ate way too  much and spoiled dinner. The Hotel is also beautiful!

Fountain of wealth

Gardens by the Bay! These are their "super trees" which are solar powered and power part of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. It's pretty cool.

Singapore Day 3

The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. We looked around quite a bit, but didn't buy anything here. Lots of name brand, very expensive stores!

At Merlion Park! The Merlion (half lion, half fish) is a symbol of Singapore. You can see the Merlion statue in the picture on the left.

We booked one night at Marina Bay Sands just so that we could enjoy this pool. Seriously. Look at this pool. It's amazing! It's on the rooftop of the hotel and it's got an absolutely gorgeous view. There were a lot of people, but it was still enjoyable. I could have spent the entire vacation here happily.

Singapore Day 2

Sorry for posting this so much later than Singapore Day 1!

Pictures from a Buddhist temple in Chinatown

Chinatown! We also when to the Chinatown cultural heritage center which had a lot of information about the Chinese immigrants who originally came to Singapore and recreated the types of places that they would have worked or lived. It was really cool.

We went to Siloso Island for Universal Studios. It was really cool, but I got motion sick after the first ride so we couldn't go on any of the exciting rides after that. ;(

The beach on Siloso Island!

We ended the night with a river cruise where we got to see the Marina Bay Sands Lazer show! Very cool!
